When our country was under British rule ,the concept of only one government school was in vogue in each district .But ,when it failed the educational needs of the time , a few intellectuals of the city decided to launch one more school ( self –organized) on the sacred land of Guru Goraksha Nath .And then the Gorakhpur High School Society was formed by some mighty minded citizens on Jan. 06, 1909 and a newly self –organized school in a rented house with 22 students was laid down .
Late Ram Garib Lal came farward and donated his 15 acres of land for school premises . In 1990 ,the school society was registered and in 1911 J. Hope Simpson ,the then District Magistrate ,laid the first foundation brick of the main building of the school .In 1948 the Gorakhpur High School and the Gorakhpur Society were respectively replaced by Mahatma Gandhi Intermediate college and the National Educational Society ,Gorakhpur
The college has a well – equipped premises, constructed on old architecture .It has five thousand students from nooks and corners of U.P and also abroad . They get education here in different streams – Maths ,Bio,Commerce ,Literary group,Wood –craft and Computer .Thus ,the M.G. Inter College has a glorious past . On one hand ,it has given out many scholars who are presently serving our country with their never fading enlightenment .Some of them are…….
